CHARMS Interactive Web Site! The Manatee HS Band program has begun utilizing an interactive music web site called Charms as part of our ongoing efforts to keep students and parents more informed, as well as give students and parents the ability to monitor student progress in many areas pertaining to their high school band experience. Through the Charms web site: You have access to our band calendar and events list. We have the ability to send you informational and reminder e-mails. You can keep up with individual student progress on fund-raising for general band fees, as well as band trip accounts. You have the ability to view and print forms and handouts. And there will be more added features as we progress with the system! Every student now has an individual ID number to access their personal Charms Account. Parents should also have their students ID number to access the account. Every student has now been given their ID number. Check with the band office if you need this number. You may still access the band calendar and send e-mail to the directors without entering a student ID. Simply click on the link to the band calendar above, click here to get to the Charms Web Site, or paste the address www.charmsmusic.com into your browser's url window. Once there, simply enter manateehsband for the school code in the Parent/Student login window. We know you will enjoy using the Charms web site as part of your band experience! Access it, today!! |

On May 4, 2004 the United States House of Representatives approved a resolution supporting music education. We encourage you to send a letter to your congressperson thanking him or her for supporting music in schools. It's very easy to do, just visit www.house.gov/writerep and enter your zip code. You will be linked right away to a form to contact your representative. In a victory for school music education programs across the country, the US House of Representatives recently passed H. CON. RES, 380 recognizing the benefits and importance of school-based music education. "This resolution expresses the view of the Congress that studying music helps kids achieve in school and supports the industry's efforts to make sure that all children have access to music study as part of a quality education," said Mary Luehrsen, director of public affairs and government relations, NAMM, the International Music Products Association.
