The 2008 - 2009 Marching 'Canes wrapped up another terrific fall season of half time shows and had great showings at the "West Port" marching band competition in Ocala, and the "Lion's Pride" competition in Tampa. The Marching 'Canes presented music from "Night Watch!" The show featured exciting music from this original composition from composer, Jay Dawson. It proved to be an extremely exciting show that had audiences on their feet!

Universal Studios!

The Marching 'Canes travel each fall to Orlando for a day at "Islands of Adventure" at Universal Studios. The band enjoys a great day at the park filled with roller coasters and theme rides! A wonderful time is had by all. The Marching 'Canes take this "Orlando Attraction" trip every fall in appreciation of all of their hard work!
 
 

Marching Band Banquet

The Marching Band banquet is always a bitter-sweet time as we look back at a wonderful marching season and bid our seniors farewell. The banquet is attended annually by approximately 300 people with awards, door prizes, speeches, and the fabulous "Slide Show!" The slide show captures the fun and pageantry of the fall marching season! Always a wonderful presentation!!
 
 

Student Leadership Selection

Student leadership selection takes place each year in the spring. Marching band members seeking a leadership position with the band must participate in Spring Leadership Selection interviews. Leadership positions include Drum Majors, Captains, Lieutenants, and Section Leaders. Those seeking a staff position with the band are encouraged to attend Leadership Interviews as well. Staff positions include Quartermasters, Music Librarians, and Secretary. A complete listing of Officer and Staff positions and their responsibilities is available in the band office.

Leadership Retreat!

Each year before band camp, our officers and directors take a Leadership Retreat to Orlando. We have an evening of activities to "break the ice" and to get to know each other better, followed by a full day of leadership sessions where we discuss the qualities of leadership, the duties and responsibilities of being an officer, taking the reins of leadership, and more. Finally, we spend a day together relaxing and rejuvenating at an Orlando area attraction before we begin band camp!
 
 

Marching Band Show 2008 - 2009

The Competition/Festival show for 2008 - 2009 is an original composition from composer, Jay Dawson titled "Night Watch!" The show presents exciting music from this wonderful composer in three movements. We hope to once again have audiences on their feet with this exciting show!
 
 

Marching Band Camp 2009

Marching 'Canes band camp is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 for all New Members, all percussion, and the Dance Teams. All other Returning Members are to report on Wednesday, August 12th! See the schedule below for detailed band camp information.
